When we were kids, my Uncle Joe was separated from his wife and he rented a townhome here at Narragansett Village for a few years. He and his ex-wife, Auntie Jackie, had 6 kids and she continued to live in their house with their kids at this time, just a couple of miles away. We would go to Uncle Joe's on the 4th of July and roll down this hill. There were high speed boat races out front and then we would sit on the grass and watch the fireworks, sent out right above.
Narragansett Boulevard has 3 stripes down the center of the road: Red, White & Blue, instead of the standard double yellow line. Every year there is a Gaspee Day Parade. It celebrates the burning of the Gaspee, a British ship that was burned right out front here at the beginning of the Revolutionary War.
Over to the right, maybe just out of view in this picture is a little park. It is absolutely FULL of cats! They live in the tall grass and also in the spaces of the rock getty. Somebody goes out there everyday and fills about 4 pans with cat food and feeds them. At night, pervs and druggies sometime meet in the park and the police cruise through every now and then. :)
I've got to get a blog!
