I definitely would love to have a home or cabin on the water someday. It has always been a dream, but being close to the water all day in Rhode Island confirmed the peace and comfort that close proximity to the water provides for me. The top lakes for a home would include Lake Minnetonka, Lake of the Isles, Lake Calhoun, Lake Harriet or any lake where open water swimming and water skiing are welcome. For a cabin...any of the Brainerd Lakes, Lake Superior, Lake Tahoe, Lake Geneva, Grand Lake or any lake where open water swimming and water skiing are welcome. Open water swimming and water skiing are a requirement, I guess (go figure). Top coastal places would be La Jolla Cove, Manley Beach, anywhere along the Australian coast in Melbourne, and probably any place in Greece (never been there, but hoping to check out Santorini someday). I'm not a big fan of the East Coast, but I'm sure I could be happy along the warmer coastal waters. I guess just about anywhere with water would be OK with me. It's fun to dream...might as well dream big.
If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
Today was one of those days I realized that I am truly blessed with incredible friends. Today...Kate, Michael, Voni, JJ, and Rindy were so wonderful. Thanks for your honesty and knowing me so well. You will never know how much it means to me to have your love.
Words cannot express how impressed I am with these Olympic athletes. It has been so fun to watch. I am especially excited about the swimming (of course) and love seeing so many world records get crushed!! I was humbled today as I swam a set of 200s about 45 seconds slower than Ian Thorpe. And that dolphin undulation under the water...they go for 5-10 meters underwater and I'm lucky to get one body length past the flags!! Amazing. I have also found the athlete bios to be really intriguing. They bring human characteristics to superhuman abilities. These Olympics have been awesome.
The men and women in Athens this year are among the most incredible examples of determination, strength and talent I have ever seen. And this is only Day 1 of the Olympics. Michael Phelps amazed us once again with a world record 400 IM (faster than I could even dream of swimming a 400 free). And I enjoyed seeing Eric Vendt win silver. I love seeing the underdog kick butt like that. Any predictions about who will win the men's 200 free on Monday? It will be quite a race and I can't wait to watch it. Seven more days of swimming adventures in Athens...awesome.
