I really enjoyed the weekend back home in Hastings, MN. It may be a little obvious with the number of pictures I was taking. But where else can you have conversations about snowmobiles for over 30 minutes at a family reunion? Or get the whole family to join in for a game of Family Feud? Or hear never-ending Iowa jokes? Not to mention the good eats...hot dish (many varieties), jello with fruit (mixed with other mysterious items), anything imagined mixed with cream cheese to make it taste delicious, salad combinations that are difficult to dream up and pie (strawberry-rhubarb, apple, blueberry-raspberry, pecan to name just a few). Can you tell I ate my way through the weekend? Combine all that with a Twins game, the MN state fair, a run on the Mississippi, a swim in the St. Croix river, and lots of good laughs...that is a Minnesota weekend. If you haven't been to Minnesota, you should give it a try...
I recently had a conversation with someone about the 5 love languages. This is how we love others or how we feel loved by others. It is an interesting perspective on important relationships in our life. Here is the list:
*Quality time
*Words of Affirmation
*Gifts
*Acts of Service
*Physical Touch
So of this list, how do you most feel loved? What are your top two love languages? My first love language is definitely words of affirmation. The second one is a toss up between physical touch and acts of service. I think it is interesting because not only do I want to be shown love in these ways, but I tend to love others in these ways...and it may not be the way they feel most loved. I think taking a new look at how others feel loved can change the way we choose to love them.
